~Gender Roles~

In the days of yore, especially in Asian cultures, men and women were segregated. Man would be deified as supreme beings and served hand and foot whereas a woman would be a burden and sorrow to a family as they had to find dowry to marry her off. Thus, our forefathers believed that being born a make was a great privilege and honour and there would be a great pomp and celebration in the village. In their opinion,a man supposed to carry on the family name nad regardless of his age,he would supersede his elder sisters and gained power to control the house-hold. However,of late, due to the exposure to the world and mingling of cultures through education, things are changing at a rapid pace.

As early as fifty years ago,a typical man's job was to bring home the bacon while woman was the breed winner of the family. By tradition, it was a man's responsibility to provide shelther, clothing, and protection to his family and to put rice on the table. Because of that ,women were reduced to do the house-hold chores and bearing and bringing up children. For example, they were required to wake up earlier every morning to prepare the foods and drinks for their family. Then, they had to wash the clothes and keep the house clean, which was an unpleasant and tiring task.Besides that, the women were not sent to school to gain knowledge there as education for women was to a bare minimum whereas men were apprenticed to learn a trade and further their education.

However, women nowadays are more alert of their capabilities. They have found the courage to venture into a world where once they were feared to tread because different types of job are now open to women and they are also dabble in businesses and other profesions such as teachers, engineers, pilots and even bus drivers. In short, they now work in space, under water and land. Furthermore, some of them may even take on leadership roles in politics and corporate fields to prove that women are no longer to depend on men only but they are more dedicated and focussed than men. On the contrary, stay-home husbands are becoming popular in this modern society whereby the men who used to be the head of family are now staying at home and mind the children. This proved that women's role is not the serve the men anymore and they know their own rights.

As mentioned earlier,in the good old days, the man was the deicison maker and they had the last say in the children's future. But with time, both man and woman have equal right in any sectors. As we all know, the world is developing in such a rapid pace that sometimes it is difficult to cope with it. Then, the cost of living is continue to rise year by year. With no other choices, man and woman are going to work as they need to supplement their income and thus their children are sent to day-care centres. Not only that, the house-hold responsibility is shared equally between husband and wife. For example, men are required to know how to keep the house clean and learn how to cook a meal. If our forefathers knew what is happening in this world,I have a conviction that they will shudder in their grawes because such things were unheard of before.

In a nutshell, women are now fully emancipated and they know how to fought their rights. They are liberated from the shackles of traidition and injustice and no longer "kow tow" on the men. Moreover, they refuse to cower to the abuses or bullying of men anymore. Therefore, the gentlemen nowadays should know on how to respect the ladies and must be no prejudice at any time. They should work hand-in-hand with each other in helping our country to achive developed nation status.

So,do you all agree with the statements that i've make in the above?Well,it is just my own opinion on it and i believe everyone has its own ideas or comments on this topics.

By the way,let me ask you a question. If you are given a chance to choose the gender that you wish to be ,what would be your answer?Man?Or woman?
